North Point Quarry Partners

The Newark Parks & Recreation Department is proud to have as partners, Big Fish Farms, and Buckeye Lake Marina. The combined efforts of these businesses have helped to make North Point Quarry a premier “must dive” destination in the Midwest. We hope that as you view our website, you will take the time to learn about these amazing partners by visiting their sites.

Big Fish Farms, www.bigfishfarms.com  located in Bellevue, Kentucky, is a fairly new business that has been built through hard work, dedication, and a great amount of passion and love for paddlefish. Owners Renee and Keith Koerner are proof that the right way to grow a business from the ground up is to dedicate themselves to all aspects of the business, and not attempt to take short cuts along the way. The enthusiasm that Renee exhibited during our first meeting regarding a partnership convinced us that our department had found the perfect person and company to help us move forward with our scuba diving project by introducing over 400 paddlefish to North Point Quarry in the fall of 2011. In addition, another 487 paddlefish were introduced to two other quarries in our park during the fall of 2012, giving us a total of over 900 paddlefish to date. We will be adding more paddlefish to North Point Quarry this summer, bringing our total to over 500 in the dive quarry. This partnership will allow divers the rare opportunity to dive among the largest number of paddlefish in one location in the entire United States.

Buckeye Lake Marina, www.thebuckeyelakemarina.com is located in Millersport, Ohio, and is recognized as one of the premier marinas in the State of Ohio. Owner Dave Levacy and his son Tim have been very instrumental in our development of North Point Quarry by providing numerous boats for us to use as underwater structures, as well as providing equipment to transport the boats to North Point. We are very grateful for their assistance and support as they continue to provide us with boats to use at the quarry, including a 35′ houseboat that can be accessed as a swim - through structure as well as an underwater dive platform. Please be sure to contact them whenever you are in the market for a new or used boat or other watercraft.

Again, we hope you will check out the websites for these major partners of North Point Quarry, and let them know that they are greatly appreciated for their efforts in helping to make our dive site a huge success.

Sincerely,

Chuck Jackson (North Point Dive Quarry Manager)
