Greetings fellow divers and friends,
With Christmas just around the corner, it is a good time to wish all of you a safe and happy holiday season. We here at North Point Dive Quarry hope that this wonderful time of year will find each of you spending time with loved ones and sharing the true meaning of Christmas.
Even though cold weather has finally made it’s way to Central Ohio, North Point will be open throughout the winter months for those who enjoy the feeling of diving in brisk, cold, clear water. What better way to celebrate the holidays than swimming with the paddlefish at North Point Quarry.
The area surrounding the quarry has been very active also, with several deer, coyote, fox, ducks and even our two resident bald eagles being seen daily as we work at the dive area.
For those who may be planning to dive North Point over the winter, simply call me at (740) 983-4797 at least 24 hours prior to your arrival so that we can update you on water and air temperatures and conditions.
Again, Merry Christmas to all.
Hello Pirates and Divers,
The season has been great for diving at North Point this year, and many divers have taken advantage of the warm water and good visibility. Recently, I met a wonderful couple, Wendell & Charle Crain as they visited North Point for the first time. They were pretty excited about the Quarry, and have made plans to return often.
Also, as an update on the nature side of things, the eagles have been hanging out around the quarry daily, and the paddlefish are now averaging 3′-4′ long and are being spotted by divers on a regular basis. We even have a couple of Great Blue Herons making their home here at the Quarry, and it is always fun to watch them as they wait to catch an unsuspecting fish.
Don’t forget, if you have not had the chance to dive here at North Point so far this season, there is still lots of time to dive before the winter cold sets in at the end of the year.
Take care, and safe diving for all,
Greetings fellow Pirates,
This is the weekend that officially kicks off scuba diving season here in Central Ohio. We would like to wish everyone a safe and fun-filled holiday weekend, and please take time to remember the importance of what Memorial Day represents. To all veterans, both men and women who have served or are serving our great Country at this time, please accept our heartfelt thank you from all of us here at North Point Dive Quarry and the Newark Parks & Recreation Department.
For all scuba divers planning their dive season trips throughout Ohio, please be sure to put North Point Dive Quarry on your list of places to dive this summer. Remember, we are Ohio’s newest dive facility, and have the best daily rate in the State. In addition, there are several great restaurants to visit while you are here, as well as a great local dive shop, Discover Diving located at 610 W. Church Street, only 3 miles from North Point Dive Quarry.
Look forward to seeing each of you this summer,
Greetings all Divers and Pirates,
Well, Memorial Day is almost here, and the diving season has begun. As always, we try to provide information that may be of interest of each of you as you visit, or plan to visit North Point Dive Quarry. Often, we are asked about restaurants nearby where divers can go either between dives or after a full day of diving.
We are pleased to be able to recommend Puerto Vallarta Mexican Restaurant as a great choice for food and/or adult beverages. The management and staff are the most friendly and professional people you will ever encounter, and the quality of the food is incredible. Once you visit them, you will want to make them a regular stop whenever you are in the area for whatever reason. In addition, the restaurant is only a 4 minute drive from the Quarry, and has become a destination of choice by many divers.
If you should happen to patronize Puerto Vallarta, be sure to let them know that you received information for them from the North Point Dive Quarry Website.
Thanks as always,
Hello Pirates & Divers,
Winter is officially over, and spring is starting to take hold at North Point Dive Quarry. The flowers are blooming, and the trees are starting to get buds on them. At this time, we are in the process of getting the quarry ready for opening day, sinking more boats, and doing some spring cleaning in anticipation of the arrival of divers as the water temps start to rise.
For those of you who enjoy checking our streaming webcam from time to time, we are still seeking 3 or 4 sponsors to help fund the camera so we can keep it running year round. Any business or individual interested in becoming a sponsor, the cost is only $250 for a 5 year sponsorship. Now that is an amazing bargain. For more information, you can contact our department at (740) 670-7782 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Also, don’t forget that June 24th is our annual Water Rescue Dive Team Appreciation Day. We would like to encourage all Dive Team entities to spend the day at North Point Dive Quarry as our guest to dive, train, or just relax and enjoy the day. Team members will also be provided with a free lunch. Please contact our department for more information.
Greetings Pirates & Divers,
Having just returned from an 8-day cruise to the ABC Islands, I thought it would be an ideal time to share some thoughts with everyone. Even though we did not dive on the trip, we did get to snorkle in some incredible waters right off the beaches in each location. It was an amazing experience, getting to view thousands of beautiful and unique fish, and even a water snake and an octopus up close. The beaches themselves were beautiful, and with 84 degree water temperatures and 75′ visibility, were perfect for all of us to enjoy.
In addition, we met some very nice people during our cruise who have become great friends. A couple of new friends, John & Leslie Ebinger even enlisted Cindy to go horseback riding in Aruba. All in all, it was an awesome adventure full of snorkleing, reading, relaxing, exploring and indulging in the finer pleasures of rum and tequila.
The thing you soon realize about these Islands is that once you visit, you can’t wait to visit them again. Our friends Jan & Don Slee of local dive shop Discover Diving told us these Islands were paradise, and they were right.
Greetings fellow Pirates and Divers,
First we would like to thank everyone for taking the time to visit and dive North Point Dive Quarry this year. It was a great season with a record number of divers participating in 2016. With that said, there are still plenty of diving opportunities left before the end of the year, so be sure to make plans to visit the Quarry and enjoy the beautiful colors of Autumn.
The bald eagles have been making a daily appearance, and also, a rare and beautiful black squirrel has decided to take up residence here at North Point. In addition, this is the time of year when many varieties of migrating birds can be seen spending a few days or weeks resting and enjoying the park on their way south for the winter.
As always, we look forward to seeing everyone at North Point.
Hello Pirates and Divers,
This past weekend was a very busy time for North Point Dive Quarry. Over 50 divers spent both days taking advantage of perfect diving weather. Local dive shop Discover Diving had several students doing their open water certification training at the quarry and afterwards enjoyed a huge picnic at one of the picnic shelters located at the dive site.
Because of the great feature story that Dive Training Magazine did on North Point recently, we are getting phone calls and emails from divers all over the United States interested in visiting and diving “Ohio’s Newest Dive Quarry” this season.
Hello fellow Divers & Pirates,
Last year Dive Training Magazine visited North Point to do a feature story about “Ohio’s Newest Dive Quarry”. The July/August issue is now out, and has been circulated all over the world. The article they wrote about North Point Quarry is great, and we have already started receiving phone calls and emails from all over the Midwest regarding divers wanting to visit and dive at the quarry.
Dive Training Magazine is the ultimate source of information for all divers, and it is a huge honor to again be selected as a featured story in the magazine. We were featured in the magazine 4 years ago when we first opened, and since then have made several additions to the Dive Quarry.
Dive Training Magazine is a free publication, so be sure to stop by any dive shop and pick up a copy while they last. You do not need to be a diver to get a copy, but you may end up wanting to take lessons after visiting a dive shop in your area.
Greetings fellow divers,
The Dog Days of August have begun, and here at North Point Dive Quarry it has already been a busy week. Jan and Don Slee of Discover Diving brought several students to do their open water dives, and everyone of them completed their dives, and are now Certified Open Water Divers…congratulations to each of them.
Also, Bob Bolds an instructor from Columbus Scuba brought student Rachel Shelly to the quarry yesterday to complete her open water dives, and she is now a Certified Open Water Diver also…congratuations to Rachel. It was really nice meeting and talking to both Bob and Rachel as well as her family while they were here, and look forward to seeing them at North Point again in the near future.
