Greetings Fellow Divers and Pirates,
The opening date for the 2022 dive season has been set for Monday, April 18th. As you plan your dive destinations for the season, we hope you will include a visit to North Point Dive Quarry. As always, thank you for supporting our dive facility and the City of Newark Parks & Recreation Department.
Greetings Pirates and Divers,
Due to the forecast for lighting and thunderstorms this Saturday, we have postponed the event and will set a new date in the near future. It is with the safety of all participants in mind that we made this decision.
North Point Dive Quarry will be open to divers Saturday, but as always, please watch the weather forecast for the possibility of inclement weather.
Captain Chuck, North Point Dive Quarry
Greetings Divers & Pirates,
The weather has been great for diving, and the water temperatures are warming up as Summer is fast approaching. A special thanks to divers Morgan Shields & Gabriella McDonald for providing the update on the water temperatures while diving here at North Point Dive Quarry.
Just a reminder of our scheduled “Sunken Pirate Treasure Chest” event on Saturday, July 17th from 9am-dusk. First prize is a $50.00 gift card to Puerto Vallarta Mexican Restaurant located on Deo Drive, just 5 minutes from the Quarry. Additional prizes will be given out throughout the day, so plan on joining us for a fun day of diving here at North Point Dive Quarry.
Greetings to fellow divers and Pirates,
This past Saturday we had the privilege of meeting Richard Payne and Tempest Anderson from Columbus, Ohio. This was their first time diving here at North Point Dive Quarry. It was nice getting a chance to talk to them and hearing of their dive experiences at other dive locations both here in the United States as well as other Countries. They were even nice enough to give us temperature readings while they were exploring the Quarry. We hope they will continue to visit us often.
Greetings Divers and Pirates,
Don’t forget to mark your calendar for June 12th to visit and dive at North Point Dive Quarry. We will be providing a free lunch for everyone that dives the Quarry that day.
Lunch will be served from 12 pm-1pm and will consist of Hot Dogs, baked Beans, Cookies, Chips and Soda & water. Please tell all of your scuba diving friends of this fun day at North Point.
Greetings fellow divers and friends,
We are excited to announce that our streaming webcam is now functional again after being down and disabled due to a fallen tree.
We would like to say a special thank you to AlphaLink technicians Rick Hill and Danni Rakes, for all of their efforts to make repairs and install new parts to get it up and running again.
For those of you who visit this website, we hope you will enjoy viewing the dive area even though North Point is closed for the winter.
Hello fellow pirates and divers,
The 2020 dive season is over, and North Point Dive Quarry is now closed for the season. For all of you who were able to visit and dive North Point, we hope you had an enjoyable time and will come visit us again in the Spring.
The Quarry will open for the 2021 dive season April 1st, so be sure to include a visit to North Point as you plan your dive schedule for next year.
In the meantime, we wish all of you and your families a Happy Thanksgiving, and a wonderful Christmas season.
Greetings fellow divers,
As you are all aware, 2020 has been a very difficult year in so many ways, but the number of divers who were able to visit and dive here at North Point Dive Quarry this season set a record.
Since our grand opening on July 1st, 2012, we have seen the number of divers increase each year, and we anticipate that 2021 will continue that trend. Those of you who visit our website, but have not had a chance to dive North Point yet, be sure to put us on your to do list for next dive season. We always look forward to meeting and talking to new visitors to our facility.
As a reminder, North Point Dive Quarry will close for the season on November 15th, so there are just a couple of weeks left to enjoy diving among 4′ long paddlefish as well as many other varieties of fish that you will see during your dive.
We hope you all will have a great Holiday Season through out the rest of the year, including Thanksgiving, Christmas and the New Year. Also, please take the time on Veterans Day to pay your respects to all Service Men and Women who have served our Country.
As a reminder, the Dive Season will begin again next Spring when we open North Point Dive Quarry on April 1st, 2021.
Take care and stay safe,
We are pleased to announce that The Welsh Hills Sawmilling Company located at 1079 Mt. Vernon Road, just a half mile South of North Point Dive Quarry has joined our team of Webcam sponsors. This versatile company can provide portable sawmill service, custom furniture sales, kiln dried lumber sales, as well as accessory structures. Be sure to stop in to see what they have to offer, you will be amazed at the possibilities.
As many of you may be aware, our streaming webcam has been inactive due to technical issues, and most recently a tree fell causing physical damage to the relay/sending unit for the camera. Our friends at AlphaLink Technologies are in the process of replacing the parts needed to get the camera up and on line again in the near future.
Hello and greetings fellow divers,
We would like to announce that local dive shop, Discover Diving will be hosting a pumpkin carving event at North Point on Saturday, October 10th. The event starts at 10:00 am. All certified divers are invited to participate. Discover Diving is asking that divers call the shop to sign up in advance so that they will know how many to expect and to plan a meal for. The cost of the meal will be $6.00 per person for those who wish to enjoy some great food. As always, each diver will need to fill out a liability waiver and insert the $10.00 dive fee in the envelope prior to entering the water. Be sure to bring your own pumpkin for the underwater carving contest. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 pumpkin carvers. Please come and enjoy a fun day of friendship and diving at North Point Dive Quarry.
