We are pleased to announce that The Welsh Hills Sawmilling Company located at 1079 Mt. Vernon Road, just a half mile South of North Point Dive Quarry has joined our team of Webcam sponsors. This versatile company can provide portable sawmill service, custom furniture sales, kiln dried lumber sales, as well as accessory structures. Be sure to stop in to see what they have to offer, you will be amazed at the possibilities.
As many of you may be aware, our streaming webcam has been inactive due to technical issues, and most recently a tree fell causing physical damage to the relay/sending unit for the camera. Our friends at AlphaLink Technologies are in the process of replacing the parts needed to get the camera up and on line again in the near future.
Hello and greetings fellow divers,
We would like to announce that local dive shop, Discover Diving will be hosting a pumpkin carving event at North Point on Saturday, October 10th. The event starts at 10:00 am. All certified divers are invited to participate. Discover Diving is asking that divers call the shop to sign up in advance so that they will know how many to expect and to plan a meal for. The cost of the meal will be $6.00 per person for those who wish to enjoy some great food. As always, each diver will need to fill out a liability waiver and insert the $10.00 dive fee in the envelope prior to entering the water. Be sure to bring your own pumpkin for the underwater carving contest. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 pumpkin carvers. Please come and enjoy a fun day of friendship and diving at North Point Dive Quarry.
It has been a very busy time here at North Point the past few weeks, with several first time divers to the Quarry as well as plenty of repeat divers taking advantage of the beautiful weather. Among the divers that I had an opportunity to chat with were Mike Liston and Rachel Sprecher, Rob and Susan Bright and Cory May. It is always great to meet first-time visitors, and get to know where they are from. Hopefully they will be able to visit often and help spread the word about North Point Dive Quarry.
Talk again soon, Captain Chuck
Greetings fellow divers,
Yesterday, August 30th was a beautiful day at North Point, with several divers enjoying the warm water. A special hello to Mason and Rachel for taking the time to talk for awhile between dives. Also, one of our nesting pair of bald eagles spent the morning soaring above the quarry and perching in the trees while eating a fish that she plucked from the water. It was amazing watching her dive down and scoop up a fish on her very first try.
As summer is winding down and fall will soon take over, the trees will start to change colors but there is still plenty of time to visit us and get some diving in before the season ends and the Quarry closes on November 15th.
We look forward to seeing you soon, Captain Chuck
Greetings fellow divers,
Well, here it is the first day of March, and we have already had our first divers of the season enter the water here at North Point Dive Quarry. Dave from Medina and John from Parma Heights made their first trip to experience our facility on February 24th.
For those of you who will be diving at the quarry this spring, we have a contest in place to see who can retrieve a fin that was lost right at the end of the dive platform in about 20′ of water. Whoever recovers the fin will be rewarded with a $25 gift card from a local restaurant here in Newark. This will be a great opportunity to test your scavenger skills, so let the game begin. Anyone finding the fin, simply call my cell phone (740) 983-4797 to turn the item in and collect your reward. Good luck to all who participate!!!
Also, don’t forget to tell all of your diving friends about North Point, “Ohio’s Newest Dive Quarry”.
Greetings fellow divers and friends,
With Christmas just around the corner, it is a good time to wish all of you a safe and happy holiday season. We here at North Point Dive Quarry hope that this wonderful time of year will find each of you spending time with loved ones and sharing the true meaning of Christmas.
Even though cold weather has finally made it’s way to Central Ohio, North Point will be open throughout the winter months for those who enjoy the feeling of diving in brisk, cold, clear water. What better way to celebrate the holidays than swimming with the paddlefish at North Point Quarry.
The area surrounding the quarry has been very active also, with several deer, coyote, fox, ducks and even our two resident bald eagles being seen daily as we work at the dive area.
For those who may be planning to dive North Point over the winter, simply call me at (740) 983-4797 at least 24 hours prior to your arrival so that we can update you on water and air temperatures and conditions.
Again, Merry Christmas to all.
Hello Pirates and Divers,
The season has been great for diving at North Point this year, and many divers have taken advantage of the warm water and good visibility. Recently, I met a wonderful couple, Wendell & Charle Crain as they visited North Point for the first time. They were pretty excited about the Quarry, and have made plans to return often.
Also, as an update on the nature side of things, the eagles have been hanging out around the quarry daily, and the paddlefish are now averaging 3′-4′ long and are being spotted by divers on a regular basis. We even have a couple of Great Blue Herons making their home here at the Quarry, and it is always fun to watch them as they wait to catch an unsuspecting fish.
Don’t forget, if you have not had the chance to dive here at North Point so far this season, there is still lots of time to dive before the winter cold sets in at the end of the year.
Take care, and safe diving for all,
Greetings fellow Pirates,
This is the weekend that officially kicks off scuba diving season here in Central Ohio. We would like to wish everyone a safe and fun-filled holiday weekend, and please take time to remember the importance of what Memorial Day represents. To all veterans, both men and women who have served or are serving our great Country at this time, please accept our heartfelt thank you from all of us here at North Point Dive Quarry and the Newark Parks & Recreation Department.
For all scuba divers planning their dive season trips throughout Ohio, please be sure to put North Point Dive Quarry on your list of places to dive this summer. Remember, we are Ohio’s newest dive facility, and have the best daily rate in the State. In addition, there are several great restaurants to visit while you are here, as well as a great local dive shop, Discover Diving located at 610 W. Church Street, only 3 miles from North Point Dive Quarry.
Look forward to seeing each of you this summer,
Greetings all Divers and Pirates,
Well, Memorial Day is almost here, and the diving season has begun. As always, we try to provide information that may be of interest of each of you as you visit, or plan to visit North Point Dive Quarry. Often, we are asked about restaurants nearby where divers can go either between dives or after a full day of diving.
We are pleased to be able to recommend Puerto Vallarta Mexican Restaurant as a great choice for food and/or adult beverages. The management and staff are the most friendly and professional people you will ever encounter, and the quality of the food is incredible. Once you visit them, you will want to make them a regular stop whenever you are in the area for whatever reason. In addition, the restaurant is only a 4 minute drive from the Quarry, and has become a destination of choice by many divers.
If you should happen to patronize Puerto Vallarta, be sure to let them know that you received information for them from the North Point Dive Quarry Website.
Thanks as always,
Hello Pirates & Divers,
Winter is officially over, and spring is starting to take hold at North Point Dive Quarry. The flowers are blooming, and the trees are starting to get buds on them. At this time, we are in the process of getting the quarry ready for opening day, sinking more boats, and doing some spring cleaning in anticipation of the arrival of divers as the water temps start to rise.
For those of you who enjoy checking our streaming webcam from time to time, we are still seeking 3 or 4 sponsors to help fund the camera so we can keep it running year round. Any business or individual interested in becoming a sponsor, the cost is only $250 for a 5 year sponsorship. Now that is an amazing bargain. For more information, you can contact our department at (740) 670-7782 or email: email@example.com.
Also, don’t forget that June 24th is our annual Water Rescue Dive Team Appreciation Day. We would like to encourage all Dive Team entities to spend the day at North Point Dive Quarry as our guest to dive, train, or just relax and enjoy the day. Team members will also be provided with a free lunch. Please contact our department for more information.
